Where East meets West. The Tunnel of Hope straight from the airport, then a guided walk that links the Ottoman bazaar, the cathedral, the Orthodox church and the old synagogue within a few hundred metres. Day two takes the cable car up Trebević and ends at the springs of the Bosna river. Halal-friendly, with the halal level of each recommended restaurant confirmed per booking.

Tunnel of Hope & Sarajevo Old Town

Ops Note
The Tunnel comes first because it sits next to the airport, which saves a second cross-town drive; we book the visit slot per date. If the flight lands after about 13:00, the Tunnel moves to the morning of day 2 and the Trebević cable car takes its place on day 2 afternoon. On the walk, the cathedral, church and synagogue are stops along the route; the guide plans visits inside around services and opening on the day. Mosque visits need modest dress (we provide scarves) and are kept outside prayer times; on a Friday the walk avoids Gazi Husrev-beg around the midday Jumu'ah prayer.

Ops Note
The cable car operator's timetable lists Monday to Wednesday as closed and Thursday to Sunday 09:00–19:00 (zicara.ba, checked 22 Oct 2026); on closed days, or in wind or snow, we drive up the Trebević road to the bobsled track instead. The bobsled track is about a 20-minute walk on uneven ground. Vrelo Bosne is a protected park open all year; it publishes no opening hours we could verify online (checked 22 Oct 2026), so we confirm access per date. Day 2 suits flights from about 17:00.

Common Objections
"Is it safe?"
Extremely. Sarajevo is one of Europe's safest capitals. The war ended 30 years ago, and today it's a vibrant, welcoming city. Crime is lower than most Western European cities.
"Is 2 days enough?"
For the highlights, yes: the Tunnel, the Old Town and Trebević. Clients arriving the evening before get a second night and a slower day 1. For more, add a third day: Lukomir, the highest village in Bosnia, with lunch at a family home (May–October), or the Srebrenica–Potočari Memorial with a guide.
"What about halal food?"
Sarajevo is one of Europe's easiest cities for halal travelers. Many traditional restaurants serve halal meat, and we confirm the halal level of each restaurant we recommend for the booking. There are mosques throughout the old town.
